SVC2UK gets better year on year. Now in its 13th year, SVC2UK is a 3 day programme of events, connecting the best of Silicon Valley to the UK and showcasing businesses in the technology sector. It’s not just about the fantastic venues /locations - last week’s events saw a diverse mix of entrepreneurs, founders, investors, experts, influencers and mentors all working together to help one another. There is no doubt in my mind that the UK companies who attended SVC2UK this year generally expressed a more ambitious outlook in terms of their expansion plans, both domestically and internationally, and were not afraid to ask for assistance to achieve their strategic ambitions. The conclusion of the CEO Summit on Wednesday morning at Guildhall summed it up well - founders standing up and asking for connections assistance from people in the room and connections being instantly made.
It is fantastic to have individuals like David Hornik coming over every year who can (first hand) see the development and growth in the UK tech ecosystem and I see more and more overseas VCs doing the same.
SVC2UK provides a perspective on why North American investors are on the lookout for British investments. As Coutu explains, the event – or more accurately a series of events -attracts significant numbers of U.S. venture capitalists. “They are attracted by the quality of the science that they see in the U.K.,” she says. “Silicon Valley Comes to the UK provides them with an efficient way to meet the founders of British tech companies.”
